  • Drinking the Holy Water from Otowa Waterfall at Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto, Japan

http://bit.ly/kiyomizudera We visited the Kiyomizu-dera Temple (Temple of Water - July 29, 2014 at 13.45pm) immediately after we visited Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Japan. We do not expect the road to the temple is very uphill. Apparently all transportation; car, bus, motorcycle or bicycle, cannot directly go to the temple because the road towards the temple has narrowed. That's why all vehicles must be parked in the parking area far below the temple. Kiyomizu-Dera Temple known as one of the most celebrated temples of Japan which was established in 778. A few minutes of quietude all alone at Enko-ji Temple, Kyoto. Then, a listen at the suikinkutsu at this temple. A suikinkutsu is a very large ceramic pot buried under a water source of some kind, which allows water to slowly drip down through pebbles and into the water in the pot, where the drops resonate with a sound akin to a "fuurin" bell, a sound that is esthetically pleasing, especially in summer. also, I want you to know that there is a website called "suikinkutsu forum" where you can learn all about them. http://www.suikinkutsu.com/

  • Beautiful Kyoto: Lotus Gardens in Kyoto

Lotus, gorgeous pink and white flowers that bloom on thin stalks growing up out of the water, have long been associated with purity, beauty, and Buddhism. Despite the fact that the lotus sprouts from the mud, it emerges above the water beautiful and unstained. It's said that where the Buddha Siddhārtha walked lotus flowers sprung up from his footsteps, and because of this you can often find lotus art, designs, or even the plants themselves at Buddhist temples. Kyoto is no exception to this, and in the month of July the lotus bring locals and tourists alike to come enjoy the sight of the large blooms, whether they lay spread out over a lake or grow from carefully placed pots. If you ever missed out on visiting Japan during the Cherry Blossom season, do not worry. During the fall it can be just as beautiful. Not only is the weather in November quite pleasing and less crowded than Hanami season, the colours of fall are absolutely breathtaking! ... With autumn leaves red and gold falling from the trees, walking though the reflective streets after a rainfall, traditional wooden Machiya merchant houses and geisha's wandering the streets of Gion it really feels like you are transported back to the Tokugawa period. Don't miss out on the Kinkakuji Golden Pavillion and the Arashiyama bamboo forest nearby, and eating streetfood at the Nishiki market. This is also the place where Aritsugu is located, a famous Japanese knife merchant. They have the finest blades one could wish for in a kitchen and they even carve out your name on it. We visited the Kiyomizu-dera temple, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The temple is massive, made out of wood and not a single nail used in the entire structure. The view from the wooden veranda was just incredible. We visited Fushimi Inari Shrine (伏見稲荷大社, Fushimi Inari Taisha). It is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion Torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds. This place is also famous due to the movie Memoirs of a Geisha, in which the young geisha is wandering through the Torii gates. Nara-city is known for its deer, which roam around freely. In fact, thousands of deers come down from the hills and temples to visit the city in the daytime, and return once the sun goes down. According to legends, deers in Japan are messengers of the Gods and have become a symbol of the city. The deers are really quite tame and will even respectfully bow to ask for food. In Osaka, we are once again transported to the future, in which streets are illuminated with neon, bright displays, Jpop music all around, filled with eateries and entertainment. We had one of our best meals in Japan at a tuna Specialized restaurant (Thanks foodblogger Mark Wiens), ordering tuna in various ways, grilled, bowled, raw, seared and minced. So delicious! At Universal Studios Osaka we got to test ride their latest attraction: Harry Potter! Simply amazing how they recreated Hogwarts, the forest and the entire castle (outside as well as inside). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Video info ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This short film was entirely shot in 4k resolution with a Samsung Galaxy S6. It's camera sensor is quite impressive, especially when you combine it with a handheld electronic stabilizer. I used the Lanparte hhg-01 to stabilize my shots. Editting and post-processing were done in Final Cut Pro X. If you like this video/vlog/ please like/comment and subscribe! I will be uploading more videos soon. Featured: Miss M.W.
